Tropical Update: Severe Weather Expected Through Monday, Oct. 12

PUBLIC NOTICE

The National Weather Service Forecast Office in Wilmington (NWS-Wilmington) is currently predicting potential severe weather impacts starting Friday, Oct. 9 through Monday, Oct. 12, 2026, that would affect Brunswick County and surrounding counties.

The first hurricane of the 2026 Atlantic hurricane season, Hurricane Isaias, is expected to make landfall along the Gulf Coast this weekend. Although the remnants of Hurricane Isaias are expected to remain well west of southeast North Carolina and northeast South Carolina this weekend, confidence continues to increase for multiple potential hazards, including coastal/surge flooding, rainfall flooding, severe storms/tornadoes, and dangerous marine/surf conditions.

This is an evolving situation, and weather forecasts are subject to change. Remain alert for updates from the NWS-Wilmington at weather.gov/ilm and find the latest weather briefing at weather.gov/ilm/briefing.

Brunswick County will share additional updates as necessary.
